Playing some classic games through emulation and going back to the classics that defined our childhoods are such a joy, but with how old they are, there are some newer features that feel standard in games released nowadays. One of those is achievements, ways to track our progress, and get this reward for completing different parts of the game, beating it on higher difficulties, or finding crazy easter eggs. None of that is there in older games, but that's where RetroAchievements comes in.

RetroAchievements is a fantastic project where volunteers add achievements for older games with direct support for emulators. There is support for over 10,000 games across a multitude of consoles, including PSP, GameCube, GBA, PS2, Dreamcast, and many more. It's an incredible project, and with how they are integrated into emulators, it has never been easier to take advantage and start earning achievements. And now, you can start getting achievements for your GameCube games on Android devices, as we are now starting to see support for Dolphin on Android roll out!
A couple of days ago, the RetroAchievements team announced that they have started supporting Dolphin on Android devices, going into open beta, and even though it isn't done yet, it's still an amazing development. There are some issues still, like you can't see the achievement list for the game you are playing yet, and you will need the latest development build of the emulator, but you are able to earn achievements when playing on Android, and that's awesome.

The team is still very much working on this, and a stable release of Dolphin with RetroAchievements support is in the works, but after internal testing, the team wanted to open it up and start public testing for it. There are bound to be issues, though, and if you run into any, report them to the RetroAchievements Discord server or in the announcement post.
So far, it's working pretty well. We get a pop-up as soon as we start showing how many achievements we have so far, and get notifications when an achievement is earned and progress towards others. It would be nice to see all the achievements we can get, but I am still quite happy with it.
If you want to try it for yourself, you can download the latest dev build from the Dolphin website. Scroll down a little to see "Development Versions" and download the latest. All you need to do is make sure it is past version 2509-503, and you will be able to utilize RetroAchievements and find the section for it in the config. You can also opt into the Dolphin Emulator beta/open testing program on the Google Play Store if you don't want to download it directly.
