After such a long wait, Valve has finally announced its new hardware lineup for early 2026, including a new VR headset, Steam Controller, and a brand new Steam Machine. It's an exciting time, and it's going to be an excruciatingly long wait for the release. However, that gives us some time to prepare, speculate, and much more. However, one thing is certain: we will be able to customize how our Steam Machine looks, and dBrand has the perfect upcoming way to do it.

dBrand Companion Cube Skin for Steam Machine

That's right. We are going to be able to turn our Steam Machine into a Portal Companion Cube. It looks nearly identical to it, coupled with hearts all around, and it may be the first must-have accessory I can think of for the Steam Machine. I really love it, like a little too much, but there is one issue that I am a little worried about.

The Companion Cube skin appears blocky, and I worry that it may cover the USB ports and others a little too much. The USB port on the front looks like it will be a little bigger, which means it could be harder to plug in our cables. This could just be the angle and not actually make these ports bigger, but that's just how it looks.

Still, I love it. dBrand hit it out of the park with this idea, and I very much want it for myself. The team is refining the design, aiming for an early 2026 release, most likely around the same time as the hardware releases. We can sign up for notifications to get emails once it is available over on dBrand's site.
