Approaching Infinity is always my top recommendation when people ask for suggestions on what to try out. It is an awesome space sandbox roguelike with astonishing depth, and it left early access last year. While playable on the Steam Deck, it currently lacks controller support. However, that is about to change! The developer IBOL has been cooking with that lately, and a beta for controller support is now live.

Approaching Infinity continues to get frequent content updates since hitting the big 1.0, and it’s awesome to see the developer working on gamepad support, which will help with the Steam Deck. The beta patch includes some bug fixes and improvements to tooltips, but the controller support is the big feature. IBOL stresses that it’s all in progress, and currently, you cannot change bindings, but that is in the works.
Steam Deck users can access it by accessing "Official Layout for Approaching Infinity - Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad" in the gamepad options, and the controller keybinds can be found in the options menu in-game.

Approaching Infinity is $17.99 on Steam and is currently rated Playable on the Steam Deck. Once this patch hits mainline, however, it should get the Verified badge.
