The King of Fighters 13 Global Match Proton Experimental

A new Proton Experimental update was released yesterday with more fixes across the board. Lag spikes caused by the Steam overlay have been fixed, while EA games should be working again after the most recent EA Desktop update. The King of Fighters 13 and Hollow Knight both got fixes themselves, while Disintegration won't get stuck on the first loading screen from now on.

The new Proton Experimental update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.

Proton Experimental 1/29/26 Update Changelog:

  • Fixed many EA games being uplayable after a recent EA Desktop update.
  • Fixed The King of Fighters XIII Global Match freezing when playing videos from the gallery.
  • Fixed lag spikes caused by Steam overlay being opened for prolonged time.
  • Fixed Hollow Knight Beta update wrongly registering Steam Deck's Steam button as a left trigger.
  • Fixed Proton 10 regressions:
    • Fixed Disintegration getting stuck on the first loading screen.
